The Mafia Boss Hunted Down The Woman Who Left Him — Then Three Little Faces Revealed The Family Secret He Never Knew

PART 5

That night, Silas placed a slim folder on the desk. “We found the letters. Archived correspondence from Kade Tower. Your grandfather’s former chief of staff kept copies of everything intercepted under Everett’s authority.”

Weston opened the first envelope in Wren’s handwriting.

*Weston, I know you asked me never to contact you, but there is something you deserve to know. I am pregnant.*

The second: *There are three babies. I tried to hate you while I listened to their hearts.*

The third, after their birth: *Owen is having trouble breathing. Maybe I need proof that I tried.*

“Everett knew,” Weston said. “Since before they were born.”

He found his grandfather waiting at Kade Tower.

“You intercepted them,” Weston said, throwing the letters across the desk.

“I prevented an emotional decision that would have endangered everyone.”

“She went through a dangerous pregnancy alone. Owen nearly died.”

“Yet she survived.”

“That is your defense?”

“It is the outcome that matters.”

“You did not protect me,” Weston said. “You controlled me. I don’t want the empire.”

“This woman has clouded your judgment again.”

“Her name is Wren.”

“Walk out of this office, and you cease to be my heir.”

Weston thought of the apartment with three locks, of Owen sliding a blue car toward him.

“They are my protection now.”

He walked out.
